New Technology Sets Panel Builder Apart with Cost Savings
GE accelerates in-country production to deliver new tech on time.
A GE panel builder customer in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was preparing a bid and knew that a GE new motor control center panel with a split bus bar design would give them a competitive pricing edge to win this sought-after project. A split bus bar design allows two MMCs to share a common bus bar, saving both “copper costs” and allowing space-saving back-to-back installation. However, the new product was not yet scheduled for manufacture in the region.
GE application engineers accelerated coordination with a local manufacturing facility to develop and complete the first assembly of the newly-designed GE SEN Plus split bus bar switchgear for first-availability in the region.
Implementing the split bus bar design gave our local panel builder partner a $500,000 cost savings over comparable switch gear approaches, allowing them to meet the target price in the bid specification. And this first order has now netted two additional projects with the same customer–all because the panel builder was first to deliver this innovative cost-saving technology.
