Pre-stripping

Dragline Shovel upgrades are available for the fleet of Marion, Bucyrus Erie, Page and R & R machines. GE mining solutions and the OEMs can team up to optimize performance of the original design or upgrade the machine for additional output and productivity.

When truck haulage is used for pre-stripping, GE's Motorized Wheel Drive Systems are the most cost-effective alternative of the available options.

High Voltage Substation
The primary high voltage substation that provides power to the entire plant complex is a vital asset in your operation. In many plants a single power feed from the utility is through one substation. This means that substation design and the equipment selection must be of the highest possible quality.

GE's mining solutions for production and personnel hoists focus on cycle time, safety and ease of operation. Loading pocket control maximizes skip car fill, and therefore maximizes productivity. GE's control systems and diagnostics continually and dynamically monitor hoist operation to be sure that actual and theoretical operation agrees. When they do not agree, the safety systems will detect, alarm and bring the hoist to stand still.

Drilling & Loading
GE Motors and Controls provide reliable, rugged performance in the fleet of shovels operating in pits around the world. GE DC motors are the standard of performance for shovel and drill applications from the Arctic to the tropics, from Death Valley to mountain peaks of the Andes.

Grinding, Processing & Shipment
In the mill, GE mining solutions include an array of applications for hard rock processing including grinding mill drive systems that are available in synchronous, induction, wound rotor and direct current. Single motor mill drives at constant or variable speed operation are available. Retrofit solutions are available for conversion from constant to variable speed operations. Large dual motor solutions including Quadramatic and Ring Motor Solutions are also available.

  • AC & DC Mill motors and variable speed AC & DC Drives provide the high stall torque requirements of a mill and precise speed control.
  • Synchronous motors and load commutated inverter solutions can be implemented that will provide the precise torque and speed control at high power factor and efficiency.
  • Rugged and reliable Extra Severe Duty (X$D) AC motors provide the mechanical power to run all of the raw meal pumps, screw conveyors, fans and separators.
  • Mill Unit Controllers provide mill motor systems control, application specific control logic, complete diagnostics and fault indication.

GE Fanuc open architecture Model 90/30 or Model 90/70 PLCs and graphic HMIs provide intuitive, easy to use operator interfaces. Class 1 GE drives provide reliable, efficient power conversion and control for both main and service hoist applications. An extensive array of AC & DC motors completes the package that will maximize production and minimize maintenance.

Drives and controls packages are powered by GE's complete lineup of power delivery equipment including substation transformer, switchgear and motor starters combined with all the necessary instrumentation and protection. An experienced team of engineers, that are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, designs the entire equipment package. GE's engineering team can also evaluate your power system to be sure a new hoist will be compatible with you existing power system or recommend changes to upgrade your power system to match the needs of your new or up-rated hoist.
