Q: Does my eKEY cradle work with a DSL line?
A: DSL (Digital Subscriber Line) is a technology that enables more bandwidth
over traditional copper phone lines. This provides Broadband Internet service
alongside phone voice service simultaneously on the same line. A standard telephone
or modem, such as the one included in the Supra Cradle, will work with DSL through
a filtered connection. In many cases all of the phone jacks, other then the
computer's DSL modem connection, will already be filtered. If not, they will
have provided the subscriber with external filters that go between the phone
and the jack. The service provider may supply the subscriber with more filters
if needed. If not they are usually available for purchase at these locations:
Q: How do I hook up my eKEY cradle?
A: Follow these steps. If you still need assistance you may call Supra Field
Support at 877-699-6787.
- Take the phone line coming out from the wall and plug it into either
phone port in the back of your Cradle.
- Make sure the power supply (AC adapter) is plugged into a power source
and into the Cradle (see illustration)

- You may use an existing phone line (currently plugged into a phone). Simply
hook up your Cradle as you would an answering machine, placing the Cradle
between the phone line and the telephone.
- If you are trying to connect to digital/DSL:
- Digital service with multiple lines (i.e. office services) can damage your
Cradle. DO NOT USE YOUR CRADLE ON A MULTIPLE DIGITAL LINE.
- Fax machines only work on analog lines so if you have a fax machine you
can share the analog line.
- DSL users must use an adapter (see above). Check with your service provider
to see if they can provide you one. If not, you can purchase them at an electronics
supply store.
- Defective Cradle?
If you checked all of the above and you are still unable to eSYNC,
make sure you are getting power to your Cradle. If your Cradle does not light
up when you plug it in, you may have a defective Cradle. If so, please call
field support at 877-699-6787
Q: The eKEY Cradle cable won't connect to my computer's COM
(serial) port. What can I do?
A: Use the serial port adapter included with the eKEY.
