Answers
Why is my Association upgrading?
Since the release of the eKEY in your area, Supra and your Association have
received a variety of feedback related to the features of the software and
the available data. Supra has designed new versions of the software that incorporate
much of this user feedback.
As part of a continued effort to provide its membership with superior products
and services, Supra and your Association have worked together to make these
new applications available. Supra is pleased to offer the new versions at no
cost to you.
What is included with the upgrade and how does it benefit
me?
The upgrade consists of:
- New versions of the Supra applications: eSYNC, eDATA and eKEY.
- Mapopolis - a mapping application that allows you to download and view
maps from any county in the United States. Mapopolis is linked to the address
field in the new version of eDATA giving you quick, easy access to a map
for your listing.
- Loan Pro - a trial version of the real estate financial calculator. (Reverts
to a lighter version after 60 days if purchase not elected.)
The new applications are available to you at no cost and provide a variety
of significant improvements in addition to some new features highlighted below:
- The eDATA user interface has been completely redesigned to provide better
navigation and ease of use.
- Now download multiple classes and statuses of listings to your eKEY.
- Choose data fields for each listing that apply specifically to your business
needs.
- New search features allow you to create a custom search to display listings
by specific areas, price ranges, classes, statuses, minimum number of bedrooms,
minimum number of bathrooms and up to three additional fields.
What happens if I don't upgrade my eKEY?
The versions that are currently installed on your eKEY will not be compatible
with the new data format. You will not receive new listings or roster data
until you upgrade your applications.
Note: Your key will still update, and you will still be able to access
KeyBoxes.
How do I upgrade my eKEY?
To upgrade your eKEY connect your cradle to a PC that has Internet access
and the Palm Desktop Software installed.
1. Click
here. Log in to KIMweb and a Web Wizard will guide
you through the steps:
- Set up your new market area
- Download new applications
- Hotysync the applications to your eKEY
2. Perform a manual eSYNC to deliver your new listing records to your eKEY.
Important: Buyer profile records and KeyBox inventory records stored
on your eKEY are deleted when you install the new software. If you have profiles
or KeyBox inventory records stored on your eKEY, make a note of those records
as a reference for reentering the data after you upgrade.
Note: If your cradle is not connected to your
PC for a HotSync, you can have someone who has already
upgraded beam you the new versions of software (eKEY/eDATA/eSYNC).
After receiving the new applications go to our website,
log on to KIMweb and set up your new market area.
I would like to HotSync, but it's been a long time since
I first received my eKEY. I can't find the Palm Desktop Software.
You may download the Palm Desktop Software free from
www.palm.com
How do I install the Palm Desktop Software?
Installation instructions are available at this link.
I don't HotSync. How can I get the upgraded applications
to my eKEY?
You may receive the upgraded applications from another eKEY user who has upgraded.
Applications are beamed from one eKEY to another. After receiving the new applications
you need to log in here and
set up your new market area. Next, perform a manual eSYNC to receive the new
listing and roster data.
I'm not getting listings even though I've completed the
upgrade.
You may have missed a step in the upgrade process or the download may have
failed. Please make sure you have done all of the following:
- Applications were successfully downloaded
- Applications were successfully installed on your Palm during the HotSync
operation
- Log on to KIMweb and reselect your market area. After reselecting, perform
a manual eSYNC
Do I have to reselect my market area after doing the upgrade?
Yes. There are new criteria in the market area selection screen based on the
new classes and statuses of properties available for download. You need to
reselect your market area from those options.
The new Market Area Wizard has these options: class, area,
status and price. Is it necessary for me to select from every category?
Yes. You must select at least one value from each section. You may select
multiple classes, statuses and areas by holding down the control (Ctrl) key
on your keyboard while clicking the selections.
My buyer profiles and KeyBox inventory are gone since I
completed the upgrade. How do I get them back to my eKEY?
Unfortunately, buyer profiles and KeyBox inventory are not transferred from
the old applications to the new. You need to manually enter this information
in the new applications.
If you have not upgraded your key, make sure to write down your buyer profile
and KeyBox inventory information so you can reenter the information following
the upgrade.
Where can I get help with the new features?
An eKEY tutorial, New Features Guide and Handbook
are provided at our website.
At the site you can also find a field definition file
for your Association. Click one of the links below
to access the New Features Guide, Tutorial or Handbook.
Why do I get fewer listings in this revision than in the
previous version?
Your Supra handheld computer has 8 megabytes of memory. Supra applications
are designed to use a portion of this memory, leaving adequate memory space
for you to install other applications and store data.
Prior to the upgrade, the eDATA application was designed to deliver 5,500
records with a standard set of 26 fields. This combination of data fields and
listing records used the maximum allowable memory space allocated for Supra
applications on the handheld.
The upgraded version of eDATA is designed specifically for your Association
including a new set of data fields that is more useful to its members. In order
to accommodate these fields, the number of listings stored on your eKEY had
to be reduced. The set of fields delivered to the handheld and the maximum
number of listings available for download were decided after evaluating the
size of your MLS database and the average size of current market areas used
by eKEY holders.
