SuperKey FAQ's

About the AEII System for SuperKey Holders

Q. What is an Update Code?
A. The Update Code is a code that is entered into your SuperKey on each expiration date. Your SuperKey will operate a KeyBox only if it has a current Update Code. The Update Code expires on the expiration date printed on the back of your SuperKey.

Q. How do I Update my SuperKey?
A. To Update your SuperKey, call KIM from a touch tone phone. When KIM asks, enter your SuperKey serial number, your PIN code and the pound (#) sign in the telephone touch pad. Press number one when KIM reads you a list of options. Write down the Update Code KIM gives you. Enter the Update Code into your SuperKey by pressing the green start button, entering the Update Code, then pressing the cycle button.

Q. KIM gave me my Update Code and my SuperKey is still not working. What should I do?
A. Make sure you have entered the Update Code into your SuperKey. If you are uncertain, enter the Update Code again. If your SuperKey is still not functioning properly, call KIM to verify that you are entering the correct Update Code.

Q. Does my PIN code change when I update my SuperKey?
A. No, your PIN code never changes.

Q. I have an Affiliate Card. How do I access keys in a KeyBox?
A. When an agent asks you to go to a listing, you will be given an Entry Code that is unique to the KeyBox on the listing. Enter the Entry Code into your Affiliate Card by pressing the green start button, entering the Entry Code, then pressing Update Card. Your Affiliate Card is now able to access keys from the KeyBox at the listing.

Q. I am a Real Estate agent and I have lost my SuperKey. What should I do?
A. Call your Board or Association immediately.

Q. How do I change the battery in my SuperKey?
A. Your SuperKey contains 3 replaceable AAA batteries. Most stores carry this type of battery. If you hear two buzzes while trying to perform a function on your SuperKey, the battery is low.

To replace the battery:
  1. Press the green start button, then the button shaped like a key.
  2. Remove the battery cover on the back, bottom half of your SuperKey.
  3. Remove the old batteries and insert the new batteries.
  4. Slide the panel on until it is completely closed.
  5. Test your card in a KeyBox.

  6. NOTE:You may notice a petroleum jelly-like substance on your battery. It is a silicon gel that is applied to the battery contacts at the factory. The gel is used to ensure a good connection between the battery and the contacts in the card. The gel is harmless and will not effect the operation of the card. If you would like, you may wipe any excess gel off the SuperKey with a soft cloth.

Q. How can I find out who has been in my KeyBox?
A. Each time the KeyBox is opened it stores the date, time and information about the SuperKey using the KeyBox. With your SuperKey, you can copy the stored information in a KeyBox and transmit it to KIM. When transmission is complete, you will be able to request voice or printed reports on listing activity information.

To obtain a report, three steps must be followed:
  1. Read KeyBox
  2. Send KeyBox information to KIM
  3. Request Activity Report.
To read a KeyBox:
  1. Press the green start button on your SuperKey.
  2. Enter the four digit KeyBox Shackle Code into your SuperKey.
  3. Insert your SuperKey into the KeyBox.
  4. Press the blue book button on your SuperKey.
  5. You will hear a double beep immediately after pressing the blue book button. Leave the SuperKey in the KeyBox until you hear four rapid tones, indicating that the transfer of information is complete. Remove the SuperKey from the KeyBox. If you hear a single buzz, check that you are using the correct Shackle Code for the KeyBox being read, and begin the process again. The access information from this KeyBox is now stored in the SuperKey.
To send the KeyBox information to KIM:
  1. Call KIM from a touch tone phone.
  2. On the telephone keypad, enter your SuperKey serial number, your PIN code and the pound (#) key.
  3. Press 4 on the telephone keypad when KIM reads you a list of options.
  4. When KIM says "perform download now" press the green start button,1, and the phone button on your SuperKey. Hold the back of the SuperKey next to the telephone mouthpiece until the tones stop. You will hear eight continuous beeps that allow you time to place your SuperKey on the telephone mouthpiece.
  5. Immediately following transmission, KIM will give you the number of entries read and a voice report of the last five entries in the KeyBox. Write down the access information as KIM gives it to you.
  6. Press * and hang up the telephone.

Q. KIM gave me a verbal report of the last five entries in my KeyBox. How can I get a complete report of KeyBox activity?
A. Obtaining a fax report:

  1. Call KIM. On the telephone touch pad, enter your SuperKey number (found on the back of your SuperKey), followed by your PIN code, and the pound (#) sign.
  2. When KIM gives you a list of options, press number 5 on your telephone touch pad.
  3. On the telephone, enter the KeyBox serial number and shackle code followed by the pound key. *(If you are requesting the KeyBox report immediately after transmitting KeyBox activity to KIM choose option #4 because KIM will NOT ask for this step if on the same call.)
  4. When KIM gives you a list of options, enter number 2 on the telephone touch pad for a fax report.
  5. KIM will give you a fax option menu. On the telephone, select the option (1, 2, or 3) of where you want your fax sent.
  6. If you selected 3, enter area code and fax number on the telephone followed by the pound (#) key.
  7. When KIM asks, enter the number of pages you wish to receive, followed by the pound (#) key. (There are approximately 22 entries per page. If you request more pages than you need, KIM will automatically cancel the additional pages.)
  8. When KIM gives you a list of options press number 1 on you telephone.
  9. KIM will say "Your fax is being prepared." The fax is then sent to you.
