Effective January 1, 2007 a new federal law prohibits manufacturers of low-voltage, dry-type distribution transformers from producing transformers 15kVA or larger, that do not meet the NEMA TP-1-2002 standards for energy efficiency. The law applies to all low-voltage dry-type transformers with an output voltage of 600V or less, intended for installation in the fifty United States, the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico.
Transformers manufactured before January 1, 2007 that do not meet the NEMA TP-1-2002 standards may still be sold, shipped, and installed after January 1, 2007. |
